Near the Sea
The Spithami village is located on the Põõsaspea cape, the beach is near everywhere and the fishing waters are abundant. It is one of the few villages where it is possible to build a residence close to the sea.
Spithami is surrounded by the Nõva landscape and Nõva-Osmussaare conservation area which was established because of the unconventional coastal landscapes and to preserve the natural forest and its unique animal and plant species.
Spithami was inhabited until the Second World War by the Swedes. Even now, many of the land and house owners are the Swedes. Recently there is issued a book titled "Spitam - küla, mis meeles", which speaks about the fascinating history of the village.
